About

IT'S A PERSONAL BLOG

Private thoughts. Public identity.

Words and pictures. Ideas to live by. A personal journey.

A story lived, made, written and told. With fun and affection.

TIM COBURN

I’m a father, fell-runner, poet and climber (well, tourist… ) living in the Eden Valley, Cumbria, not far from the Lake District National Park, England.

I was introduced to climbing by Gary Haughton and Andy Gill when I worked at Brathay. They took me to Little Chamonix, Jean Jeanie and Dream of White Horses. In my fiftieth year, I climbed the Matterhorn and in the following years, with the support of outstanding guides - Klaus Tscherrig, Owen Samuel, Phil Dowthwaite, Tim Neill and Dave Hollinger - I’ve had my nerve stretched on the Dent du Geant, Forbes Arete, Gran Paradiso, Mont Blanc, Rebuffat Couloir, Kuffner Ridge, Chapelle de la Gliere, Aiguille Croux, Arete de Rochefort, Pyramide du Tacul, Arete des Cosmiques and a few more.

Now, in search of something more, I’m climbing Ama Dablam.
