A Beautiful Day
24 February 2018
On a beautiful day, this was an early calibration ride. Up and over Whinlatter from Braithwaite, down to Lorton, left to the shores of Crummock Water and on to Buttermere for the sharp left to climb up to Newlands. That’s the bit that hurts. There’s a short but grinding 22 per cent gradient just before the top. And ice on the road.
Around the corner and the glorious view of Newlands Valley breaks out. Worth stopping to take it all in before the long glide back to Braithwaite.
