Testimony to an earlier empire, that’s Roman Fell. Accessible only on Warcop’s Military Ranges non-firing days, it governs this broad expanse of the Eden Valley, not far from where I live.

The Eden Valley Epic, a 95km cycling sportive passes this way next Sunday, 4th March. All being well, I’ll be giving it leather on the road beneath Roman Fell…. Hilton.. Murton.. Dufton.. Knock.. and on to Penrith.
